Eggs frozen before 35 carry the highest potential
The age at which eggs are frozen matters far more than the age at which they are used. Freezing at 31 and using them at 39 is a very different proposition from freezing at 39. We give you a realistic estimate of your likely egg yield before you commit to a cycle.

What actually happens, in order
Nothing here should be a surprise on the day.
Assessment call
AMH, antral follicle count, and a discussion of your age and plans. From these we can estimate how many eggs one cycle is likely to yield and what that means for you.
Stimulation, 9 to 12 days
The same daily injections and monitoring scans as an IVF cycle. The goal here is number, because more eggs stored means more chances later.
Retrieval
A 20 minute day care procedure under sedation. You go home the same day.
Vitrification
Mature eggs are flash frozen in seconds, which avoids the ice crystal damage that slow freezing caused. Embryos, if you are freezing those instead, are vitrified at day five.
Secure storage
Stored in monitored, alarmed cryostorage in your name, with annual consent renewal. You are told each year and you decide each year.
When you are ready
Eggs are thawed, fertilised by ICSI, cultured and transferred. Embryos are simply thawed and transferred, which is why embryo freezing has better per unit outcomes than egg freezing.

These are the things worth your attention. Most of what circulates online is not.
Your age at freezing, not at thawing
This is the whole point. A frozen egg keeps the quality it had on the day it was frozen.
Number of eggs stored
Not every egg survives thaw, fertilises, and becomes a viable embryo. This is why we talk in terms of how many eggs you may need rather than how many you have.
Egg versus embryo
Embryos survive thaw and implant more predictably. Eggs keep your options open if your circumstances or partner change. Neither is simply better, and the right answer depends on your life.
Laboratory technique
Vitrification and thawing are technique dependent. Survival rate after thaw is the number to ask any clinic for, and ours is above 90%.
What honest fertility preservation advice sounds like
- Freezing eggs is insurance, not a guarantee. A meaningful proportion of women who freeze never use them, and some who do use them do not get a baby from them.
- One cycle often does not produce enough eggs, particularly after 35. We tell you before you start whether we think you are likely to need two, rather than after the first cycle.
- The most useful thing we can give you is a realistic egg yield estimate for your age and AMH. If that number makes the exercise poor value for you, we will say so.
- Storage carries an annual cost and a decision every year. We explain that upfront so it is not a surprise later.

It depends entirely on age. A younger woman needs fewer stored eggs for the same realistic chance than an older woman does. We give you a specific target for your age and AMH at the consultation rather than a general number.
There is no evidence of deterioration with time in vitrified storage. Storage duration in India is governed by the ART Act 2021 and by the consent you sign, which we go through with you in detail.
The injections sting and the bloating in the last few days is uncomfortable. Retrieval is done under sedation so you feel nothing. Most people are back to normal within a day or two.
